On August 17, 2019, the Second Belt and Road Medical Assistance Conference (MASSCON 2019) was hosted at China National Convention Center in Beijing. MASSCON 2019 was co-sponsored by International Health Exchange and Cooperation Center NHC PRC (IHECC) and Chinese Red Cross Foundation under the support of China Taiping Insurance Group. Mr. George Wu, General Manager and Medical Director of MSH Beijing Branch - a high-end health insurance service and health management solution provider, attended and addressed the MASSCON 2019 on invitation, who shared how to aid the development of the international medical assistance in participating countries of the Belt & Road Initiative by international medical insurance.

According to Mr. George Wu, MSH is China's first international health insurance service provider, whose high-end health insurance product portfolio covers all the overseas emergency assistance services. Since it started operation in 2001, it has witnessed the evolution of China's medical assistance industry from requesting for overseas assistance at first to building a complete service industry chain at the moment. Chinese that "go global" now have access to overseas medical services and overseas assistance.

In the latest 5 years, MSH co-customized a variety of overseas-medical-scenario-based insurance products geared to needs of the Chinese people including overseas fertility, overseas catastrophic illness, students studying abroad, etc. with local insurers in China to provide more efficient health services for the Chinese people by global medical resources. In the future, MSH will keep enhancing its service capacity and thoroughly understand and develop China's medical resources. In face of the new challenge and opportunity posed by implementation of the Belt & Road Initiative, we will further supplement data and make precise risk evaluation, update products in the wake of trends of the times, and design products exclusive for the Belt & Road Initiative to ensure that we shall fulfill the great "long march".

Following the prior session, this session continued to adhere to the instruction of the spirit of the “Belt & Road” Initiative and principle of achieving shared growth through discussion and collaboration and deepen exchange and cooperation of medical assistance in participating countries of the Belt & Road Initiative with effort. This Conference was in the presence of leaders from the Ministry of Foreign Affairs, Ministry of Natural Resources, National Health Commission, Red Cross Society of China, National Council for Social Security Fund and other ministries, commissions and institutions, delegates for International Committee of the Red Cross, Doctors Without Borders and other international organizations, delegates for foreign embassies in China, and more than 360 delegates for national and international medical institutions, insurers, assistance providers, security service providers, academics, and media.
